I am a creative writer and designer who has worked on two literary magazines in many different capacities. I have read and edited, I have been the Arts Editor, Magazine Designer, Co-Editor-in-Chief, as well as taking over the social media role. I love combining my passion for writing with design. My writing career has led to a couple of publications in magazines.
I have been published in the Northern Virginia Writing Projects literary magazine Falling for the Story, volume XIV in 2016 with my nonfiction piece “Cortelco 2500”. In my high school literary magazine, Eddas, volume XXXII in 2016 (I was not part of the selection process that year and all submissions are anonymous, so there was no bias) I had published my nonfiction piece "Bus Stop" and my fiction piece "Magician's Invitation". |

Persona Literary Magazine Internship ~ Tucson, AZ ~ Co-Editor-in-Chief
MAY 2018 to MAY 2020
~ As Co-Editor-in-Chief my role consisted of communicating with administrators and various other departments or businesses, assigning tasks to E-Board, and running meetings to make sure we stayed on task for our publication and Release Event in April. Another aspect of my job included creating a new website, and taking on the role of social media manager--designing flyers and graphics to send out via social media, email, and physical copies to hang up.
~ With my combined roles, I also instituted a Halloween Writing & Art Contest with three goals in mind: first, to provide hands-on practice for new members before we got to the real submissions; second, to further advertise and attract people to our magazine; and three, create a fun activity for our staff and for our submitters. It helped our team in productivity, bonding, and experience when it came time for the real work.
Persona Literary Magazine Internship ~ Tucson, AZ ~ Magazine Designer
AUGUST 2016 to MAY 2020
~ Three out of my four years in this role, I acted as the lead designer. Each year, as lead, I would adjust how I taught InDesign and how to split the magazine up so everyone had a hand in creating it, depending on the amount of people interested, and how much time we had before the printers needed it. Ultimately, I made sure everything matched up thematically or complementary in InDesign, and pieced everything together smoothly on time. Administratively, I communicated with the printers—getting the quote, checking the proof, and facilitating payment between the printers and our funding held by the English Department.
Eddas Literary Magazine High School Club ~ Woodbridge, VA ~ Co-Editor-in-Chief & Magazine Designer
AUGUST 2015 to MAY 2016
~ Facilitated meetings and kept everyone on task. With some assistance from our faculty teacher, I taught myself how to use InDesign and created our magazine once we had confirmed our accepted works of art and writing. I communicated with the faculty teacher and printers to produce the magazine on time and then stayed late to help prepare the magazine to be submitted to a couple of contests.
